Hello all. The bake sale a little more than an hour ago was something new. Selling things to strangers was more difficult than we anticipated, but we worked hard and did well. We were able to make well over 200 dollars, in addition to the many donations others often gave without taking any goods. Such kind people.
Thank you to those of you for coming and trying your best. With this experience we will definitely do well, even better, next time we have an event like this!
Photos in the gallery tab!
The sign up list for the bake sale is on the club bulletin board! (Next to 100AB near the lunch lines). You can sign up for Cookies, Brownies, or Cupcakes. Please make sure when you bring them next Thursday/Friday, have them packaged and labelled. That'll really save us a lot of time. If you don't-- you won't receive your hours. You can sign up for more than one baked good, just not of the same type (brownies & cookies, not brownies & brownies).
When you take it, make sure you grab an information sheet from the purple folder on the bulletin board too. Thanks!
So we are at mid-February! There are not very many volunteering opportunities; however, I will list out some for you.
~ Every Sunday at either 9:30 or 11AM you have the opportunity to babysit cute kids at Crosspoint church. Notify us IMMEDIATELY if you are interested!
~ March 1st: Project Eliminate BAKE SALE! It is finally happening. We are organizing who contributes what by last name; there will be an update VERY SOON. So stay tuned, buddy!
Any further inquiries should be directed to Maureen or Ms. Fader. You can also email us! We do check our emails on a regular basis :D
So the Bake Sale has been called off again; anticipate having it later though.
SOUPER BOWL OF CARING THIS SATURDAY @ HEB ON MASON! Arrive a bit earlier than the time of your shift.
There are new volunteer opportunities to go for as well! Check the Service Tab -> February 2014 for information !!!
And if you have not picked up your shirt, unclaimed shirts will be sold/given to other people.
Volunteer Opportunity! The Houston Salsa Congress is holding their event at the Westin Memorial City Mall on the 18th and 19th. This is a fantastic way to earn a lot of hours and it is closer than other volunteer opportunities & it's during the long weekend! Contact Maureen ASAP (check the "Contact Us" -> "Officers" tab to do so)
Get your club shirt! They're finally in and available for pickup whenever at Fader's room!
Meeting this week! at the usual room (9221) and usual times (either 7:15am or 2:45pm) Make sure to bring your friends so they can learn about Key Club and join as well! (the member who brings in the most people will receive a prize!) You can pick up shirts here too :D
For those of you who need a ride to Food Bank, don't worry; we will be carpooling there from the Senior West parking lot at Taylor. Make sure to be there by 5 pm!
Hey all! We'll be helping out at the Houston Food Bank next Wednesday, November 27th from 6 to 9pm. Please RSVP on the Facebook group (here: https://www.facebook.com/events/447412825369032) or just sign up at the next meeting (if you have not already) later this week on November 21st.
Howl O Ween was so much fun! Thank you to everyone who came out, from 7 AM to those who stayed for breakdown 11AM. We had a blast cheering on the dogs, and helping set up or take down the event. The dogs were adorable-- if you didn't come, you really missed out!
Note that if you have not signed up for this event you do not need to; you can just come and volunteer :D

ATTENTION! If you are going to volunteer tomorrow morning please read and heed the following:
Volunteers are asked to wear long pants or jeans, closed toed shoes, and tops that do not show torso skin. It should be a cool morning, so please remember you might need a light jacket or sweater earlier in the morning.
The event site is Central Green Park in LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch, so navigate to 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd., Katy, TX, 77494! Take the main turn-in to LaCenterra, and keep going south on the one-way street that runs through the development. The park is towards the back of the existing structures, nestled between D'Amicos on its southern side and Kenzo sushi and Fish City Grille on its north side. It is a oval-shaped synthetic turf lawn with a stage area. There is a parking deck at the northeast side of the shopping center if you would prefer to park there and walk down to the site. (Please keep in mind that if you are coming from I-10, TXDOT says that there will be a freeway closure at I-10 and Grand Parkway/TX 99 this weekend. As I understand it this should be a closure of the fly-over ramp and you should be able to exit via the frontage road. However, just to be safe please plan an alternate route in case you have trouble exiting.) Please also note that just before 8 a.m. the traffic will get heavier as registrants begin arriving.
I (Maureen) will have my cell phone with me; the number is 832-508-8411. I will try to answer it as best I can but it is possible I may miss a call and have to call you back. If you have never met me in person before, I have dark blonde hair, wear glasses, and will have on a headband with black and orange sequin bobble balls on top.
6 or 6:30 a.m.- CAP and Rover Oaks staff arrive
7 a.m.- Set-up/sponsor unloading: We will be setting up signage, decorating, directing exhibitor traffic, preparing registration tables, and helping exhibitors with set-up where necessary.
8 a.m.- Registration: There will be a preregistration and day of registration line. I am going to try to stay as close to registration as possible. Some volunteers will be handling paperwork and accepting money for day-of registrations, additional volunteers behind them getting goodie bags and t-shirts for registrants, and volunteers helping answer questions and direct people which line to go to.
9 a.m.- Dog Walk: volunteers will be stationed along the walk route to help guide participants and make sure no one takes a wrong turn. Walk volunteers will be given a set of orange "pom-poms" to guide walkers with (like the orange batons airport personnel use on the tarmac); feel free to ham it up!
10 a.m.- Costume Contest: Take a breather on this one and enjoy the contest or help us manage the costume contest line and give out door prizes!
11 a.m.- Teardown: the tents and tables will be taken down by the rental company, but we will be getting all the event items packed up and loaded into the CAP and Rover Oaks vehicles, as well as checking the park and surrounding areas to make sure we are not leaving any trash or debris behind.
